Information about entry to Åland

It is allowed for everyone to go on a cruise to Åland round trip, without getting off on Åland.
The Finnish Government decided on January 13th, that the restrictions on entry to Åland will remain largely unchanged until January 31, read more. The following applies when you travel with M/S Eckerö from Grisslehamn (the municipality of Norrtälje):
A person may be granted entry into Åland/Finland if they present
- a complete and valid vaccination series (either one or two doses depending on the vaccine). At least 7 days must have passed since the last vaccine dose has been received OR
- a certificate that the person has recovered from covid-19 virus during the last 6 months OR
- a negative test that is taken no longer than 7 days before arrival to Åland
In addition to the above requirements, a certificate of a negative covid-19 test performed no longer than 48 hours before entry into Finland must be presented. PCR or antigen test is approved. This requirement applies to persons born in 2006 or earlier.
If you travel as a tourist you have to show a negative test result that is taken no longer than 48 hours before arrival to Åland.
The above requirements do not apply to Finnish citizens, foreign citizens that live permanently in Finland or persons whose entry is due to a necessary cause such as family reasons, entry to visit an relative and business trips that are important for the function of society. Please note that travelers must always carry valid proof of identity including a photo. Due to stricter border controls the identity of all travelers will be checked upon entry to Åland. Minors under the age of 18 traveling in the company of a parent or guardian who can show a valid proof of identity, are not covered by the ID requirement. Please have your travel documents and certifications ready when disembarking the ship in Åland.
Restaurants at Åland
The Government of Finland has amended the regulations for restaurants. From January 12, 2022, all restaurants on Åland will close at 18.00 (alcohol serving allowed until 17.00). This Regulation applies up to January 31, 2022.
