Fancy trying some Riesling? Then this is the tasting for you! On 21 November, we’re hosting a lovely wine tasting on board the M/S Eckerö, where we’ll discover Riesling from the historic Schloss Johannisberg together.
You don’t need to be able to distinguish between minerality and residual sweetness to take part. The tasting is just as suitable for those who already enjoy Riesling as it is for those who are simply curious and want to discover something new. Together, we’ll taste different wines, get to know their flavours and learn more about what makes Riesling such a much-loved grape.
It’ll be a relaxed and enjoyable experience on board – with fine wine, new discoveries and perhaps a new favourite in your glass. No prior knowledge is required, just a little curiosity! Limited availability. The tasting will be held in Swedish.

During the tasting, led by Johanna Andersson, Brand Manager at Schloss Johannisberg, you’ll get to sample five different Riesling wines from Schloss Johannisberg and discover how the same grape can express itself in different ways.

A Riesling with a history
Schloss Johannisberg is situated in the German Rheingau region and has a history of winegrowing stretching back some 1,200 years. Since 1720, the vineyard has been devoted entirely to Riesling, and Schloss Johannisberg is regarded as the world’s first Riesling vineyard.
A piece of wine history was also written here in 1775. When permission to begin the harvest was delayed, the grapes remained on the vines for longer than planned. The result was the first Spätlese – and what initially looked like a failed harvest became the beginning of a whole new style of wine.
Today, Schloss Johannisberg produces Riesling in a variety of styles, ranging from dry and crisp wines to sweet and fuller-bodied varieties. What they all have in common is the freshness and character of the Riesling grape.
