The journey begins on board the M/S Eckerö with good food and a tip round for the children. Once there, there are many places to visit. Did you know that Åland's finest beach is located in Eckerö on Degersand? Kick off your shoes at the car park and wander down the sandy beach to dip your toes in the water. There's a kiosk on the beach selling light snacks, ice cream and cold drinks, and a restaurant and playground a little further up. Many hours can easily be spent here.
Head for Käringsund and Viltsafarit, where there's a huge 32-hectare game preserve where you can go on a game safari and see red and fallow deer, ostrich, llamas and wild boar up close. Next to Viltsafarit is the Åland Hunting and Fishing Museum, which is housed in a building resembling a cluster of boathouses. Inside the museum you can learn about Åland archipelago life, nature and hunting and fishing culture both past and present. During the summer they also show the exhibition "Baja Bajs!" which will make the kids giggle.
Take the opportunity to stroll down among the boathouses and have a soft ice cream at Bodegan or hike along the path over the mountain and explore Käringsund's Resort and Conference Centre with outdoor pool and much more. In Käringsund you also have the opportunity to buy an activity bracelet that gives you access to a range of fun activities. With the bracelet you can try mini golf, boules, beach volleyball, table tennis and test pedal cars, pedal boats, SUP boards, kayaks and canoes - each for 30 minutes. The wristband is easily purchased online or on site.
Tired, happy and full of new memories, you board the M/S Eckerö which takes you back to Grisslehamn.
