On August 10th, you can see the children’s opera The Straw Hat, the Felt Slipper and the Big Bang at Badhuspaviljongen in Mariehamn. The opera is suitable for children aged 3–10, or anyone who is young at heart.
The libretto, written by Sinikka and Tiina Nopola, was inspired by the book “The Straw Hat, the Felt Slipper and the Baby”. This situation, familiar to families, is treated in the Nopolas’ characteristic style – with humour and from a child’s perspective. The work is fully orchestrated, and the siblings are portrayed by two singing actors. The small orchestra consists of an accordion, percussion and a violin. The musicians also play the roles of mum and dad. The production is a guest performance in collaboration with the musical theatre company Greta Productions from Helsinki. Composer Markus Fagerudd.
