Enjoy a delicious dinner at the historic nautical restaurant. The raw materials are chosen by the chefs with the greatest care according to what the season has to offer, preferably raw materials from local suppliers in Åland. The chefs put a lot of thought into everything from the preparation to the way the dish is served, because even if it has to taste good, it also needs to be a delight to the eye. The same high level of ambition is reflected in the range of drinks, and knowledgeable sommeliers and waiters guide you to the right meal drink. In summer, they open up the large outdoor terrace overlooking the sailing ship Pommern and the entrance to Mariehamn. The outdoor bar offers everything from beer to champagne and summery drinks. A great place to sit and enjoy when the sun goes down.
The house where the restaurant is located was built solely for the maritime museum that a group of Åland sea captains and shipowners took the initiative to establish. In 1935 they formed an association, the Åland Nautical Club, to realise their plans. One of the financiers was the Åland shipowner Gustaf Erikson. He owned many large sailing ships at the time, including the Pommern. Ever since the museum opened, the restaurant has been in the building. The atmosphere of the restaurant is largely preserved, although some changes have been made. The large fireplace is still in its original condition and the staircase up to the restaurant is almost authentic. The interior of the so-called boardroom or captain's lounge, where smaller parties can take their meals, is well preserved.
